Wednesday, Jan 15: Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday
Location at the Ellis Fine Arts Center; FREE EVENT
- 9:00am: Film Showing: Eyes on the Prize: American Civil Rights Years (1954-1956) “ Awakenings” Murder of Emmett Till/ Montgomery Bus Boycott
- 11:00am: (Lunch & Learn) Dramatic Reading “Letter from the Birmingham Jail” by FSCC students and members of the community. Reception to follow with Birthday cake & drinks. Photo Promotion taken with “I Stand For Sign” (Participants may bring their own lunch). Drinks provided by Great Western Dining.
- 1:30pm: Film Showing: Eyes on the Prize: American Civil Rights Years “Fighting Back”(1957-1962)-Central High School & Little Rock Nine/ James Meredith & The Univ. of Miss
- 3:30pm: Film Showing: Eyes on the Prize: American Civil Rights Years “ Ain’t Scared of No Jail” (1960-1961)- Nashville Sit-ins and Boycotts/ Freedom Riders

Location at the Fort Scott High School, Time 11:35am – FREE EVENT
- The community is invited to the all school Martin Luther King assembly program. The program will include two presentations; “The Local Story of Segregation” by the Project Based Learning students and “Brown vs Board of Education” by the students in the Advance Placement Government class. The event will be held at the High School in the main gym.

- 9:00am: Film Showing: Eyes on the Prize: American Civil Rights Years “ No Easy Walk” (1961-1963)-Albany, Georgia/ Birmingham, Alabama/ The March on Washington
- 10:30am: Film Showing: Eyes on the Prize: American Civil Rights Years “Mississippi: Is this America?” (1962-1964)-Medgar Evers/ “Mississippi Burning” Murders
- 12:00pm: (Lunch & Learn) Community Member Panel Discussion with Moderator, Rev. George Proctor, United Missionary Baptist Church. Lunch provided by Luther’s BBQ. (Participants may bring their own lunch). Drinks & desserts provided by Great Western Dining. 1
- 1:30pm: Film Showing: Film Showing: “Martin” A ballet tribute to Dr. King written and directed by Gordon Parks.
